IT Lead – Infrastructure, Operations & Support
ReOrbit is looking for an IT Lead – Infrastructure, Operations & Support to build and scale the infrastructure, operating model and service foundations that enable the company to grow.
As our IT Lead – Infrastructure, Operations & Support, you will take ownership of how ReOrbit’s core IT infrastructure and operations are designed, managed and scaled. You will combine hands-on technical leadership with strong operational governance, building resilient and repeatable systems across infrastructure, cloud, end-user computing and support.
You will lead the Infrastructure, Operations & Support pillar of ReOrbit’s multi-year IT strategy, working closely with the Head of IT & Business Systems, Security, Engineering, Manufacturing and external partners. While end-user support will be owned and governed by this role, much of the day-to-day service delivery will be handled through the internal team and an outsourced 24/7 support partner.
It's an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer.
Responsibilities
Own end-user support and the enterprise 24/7 service model, ensuring the Jira Service Desk operates against defined SLAs and KPIs.
Lead and manage the outsourced support partner, holding external delivery accountable while retaining ownership of service quality internally.
Establish and govern core IT operations processes, policies and standards across change, incident, problem and asset management, aligned with ITIL and ITSM principles.
Define clear ownership models, runbooks and documentation to ensure operational delivery does not depend on individual knowledge.
Define and govern SLAs, KPIs and operational metrics, producing regular dashboards, reporting and audits that provide clear visibility into service and infrastructure health.
Manage IT asset inventory, procurement and vendor coordination across the organisation.
Administer and support core end-user technology platforms, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Intune, MDM and Jamf.
Lead and support the migration from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace.
Design, document and maintain ReOrbit’s IT infrastructure architecture across networks, servers, storage, cloud and end-user computing.
Develop reference architectures, technical standards and infrastructure designs that can be replicated and expanded as ReOrbit grows.
Lead the restructuring and scaling of infrastructure to support multi-satellite production, clean-room and OT environments, new facilities and future robotic manufacturing deployments.
Build scalable and modular infrastructure designs, including network segmentation, VLAN architecture, governed USB access and infrastructure capable of supporting high-reliability production environments.
Build and administer core infrastructure across LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and network security, as well as servers and Microsoft cloud technologies including Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure, SQL and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Manage infrastructure capacity, performance, availability and monitoring, identifying risks and bottlenecks before they impact the business.
Plan and deliver infrastructure projects end-to-end, from scope and design through migration, testing, cutover and documentation.
Balance speed of delivery with reliability, scalability and controlled technical debt.
Own the IT infrastructure supporting ReOrbit’s OT and clean-room environments, including network architecture, connectivity, access control and security.
Drive automation and continuous improvement across IT operations, including endpoint deployment, onboarding and offboarding, provisioning and monitoring.
Improve operational workflows by applying Eliminate–Simplify–Standardise–Automate principles.
Work across systems including Jira, HiBob and Active Directory to automate and streamline employee lifecycle processes.
Embed security, compliance and resilience into IT operations, including endpoint and cloud controls, access governance, business continuity and disaster recovery.
Support ISO 27001 readiness and work closely with Security to ensure infrastructure and operational processes meet the required standards.
Skills and Requirements
12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, operations and support, including hands-on infrastructure design and delivery in a structured, regulated or high-reliability environment.
Proven experience designing, documenting and scaling infrastructure across networks, servers, cloud and end-user computing.
Strong experience developing reference architectures, technical standards and scalable infrastructure designs.
Strong knowledge of IT operations governance, including ITIL or ITSM principles, change, incident, problem and asset management.
Experience defining and managing SLAs, KPIs and operational reporting.
Strong experience with Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, Microsoft cloud infrastructure and Microsoft Intune endpoint management.
Solid understanding of network and security fundamentals, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, network segmentation and endpoint and cloud security controls.
Experience leading technical teams and managing outsourced or remote support partners against defined SLAs and KPIs.
Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
Hands-on experience with Jira, IT asset management and Confluence.
Strong documentation, stakeholder communication and vendor management skills.
Fluent English.
A hands-on leadership style, with the ability to balance strategic infrastructure design with practical execution.
Strong ownership, prioritisation and problem-solving skills in a fast-scaling environment.
A clear bias towards automation, standardisation and building scalable operational systems.
Nice to have
Experience designing infrastructure for clean-room, OT, high-security or manufacturing environments.
Experience with segregated, clustered or highly replicable infrastructure designs.
Experience delivering new site build-outs, data centre or cloud migrations, or disaster recovery implementations.
Experience leading or supporting a Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace migration.
Experience optimising Windows infrastructure and applying structured Root Cause Analysis practices.
PowerShell or other scripting experience for Active Directory, firewalls, routers, switches or infrastructure automation.
Experience implementing Single Sign-On solutions.
Experience with Jamf, iOS or Android device management.
A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related technical field.
ITIL, Azure, CCNA, CCNP or related certifications.
Experience scaling IT infrastructure and operations from a start-up environment towards enterprise maturity.
