Head of System Engineering
ReOrbit is seeking a visionary Head of Systems Engineering to lead our high-performing systems engineering team and drive the end-to-end architecture of our next-generation satellite platforms. Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end system engineering for both space and ground segments, ensuring a unified architectural vision.
Define technical direction and drive high-quality, system-level decision-making across all programs.
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, multi-location system engineering team, while supporting its growth in alignment with company needs.
Own and maintain requirements integrity—from customer needs through system, subsystem, and verification levels.
Manage system budgets (mass, power, data rate, performance, margins) and ensure their consistency throughout the lifecycle.
Coordinate and align system-level efforts across Payload, AOCS, Propulsion, Flight Software, AIT, Operations, and related domains.
Establish and uphold system engineering processes, workflows, and standards for distributed teams.
Skills and Requirements
Proven leadership in System Engineering teams for multiple spacecraft programs that successfully reached orbit.
Full lifecycle expertise, from early design to in-orbit validation, including long-lifetime missions (LEO/GEO).
Hands-on application of ECSS-E-ST-10C and related ECSS standards in real-world projects.
Practical experience with the NASA Systems Engineering Handbook (SP-6105) in applied contexts.
Leadership in system-level V&V and IV&V activities.
Expertise in trade-offs, feasibility studies, and architectural decision-making under constraints.
Ability to translate customer and operational needs into clear, actionable system requirements.
Strong communication skills across engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders.
Deep understanding of satellite subsystems and their interactions.
Experience with satellite-level testing and validation.
Production-oriented mindset with a focus on scalability and delivery.
