Senior TT&C Engineer
ReOrbit is looking for a Senior TT&C Engineer to take full ownership of the RF / PHY Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C) subsystem across our next generation satellite platforms. You will design, analyze, validate and de-risk the full TT&C chain, ensuring robust spacecraft ground communication with well understood margins and no late surprises. This is a hands-on builder role focused on real hardware, real signals, and full-system responsibility from design through preflight validation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company and work on next-generation satellite platforms where communication reliability is mission-critical from day one.
Responsibilities
Own end to end TT&C RF / PHY subsystem from requirements through validation
Define RF architecture, perform trade studies and drive key design decisions
Develop, analyze, and defend link budgets, margins, and performance models
Define and validate interfaces between spacecraft, payload, and ground systems
Model and simulate RF and communication system performance
Implement and analyze CCSDS TM/TC at PHY and link layers
Work with DVB-S2 / S2X and/or custom/proprietary waveforms
Address security and encryption considerations at PHY / link layer
Execute hands on RF testing using lab equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators)
Perform hardware in the loop (HIL) and system level TT&C validation
Own pre flight validation, tuning, and de-risking of the full TT&C chain
Collaborate closely with payload hardware, avionics, flight software, ground segment and AIT teams
Ensure clean RF verification campaigns with no late stage surprises
Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience in space, satcom, or deep tech RF engineering
Prior spaceflight experience supporting at least one real mission
Strong hands-on expertise in RF system design, analysis and validation
Proven experience building and validating link budgets
Deep understanding of RF lab testing and measurement techniques
Strong knowledge of CCSDS standards (TM/TC, coding, space link protocols)
Familiarity with ECSS standards across communications and verification
Experience with DVB-S2 / S2X and/or custom PHY waveforms
Exposure to security and encryption at PHY or link layer
Ability to work across design, simulation, lab testing, and system integration
Solid awareness of low level software (C/C++, FPGA interfaces, drivers)
Experience with RF simulation tools (ADS, CST, HFSS, MATLAB)
Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for communication system analysis
Hands-on experience with RF test equipment
Comfortable working in integrated hardware/software environments
What does ReOrbit do?
ReOrbit builds the foundation for the next generation of space applications by transforming satellites into truly intelligent, interconnected platforms, defined by software. Our satellite design philosophy revolves around the idea that satellites must network, communicate with each other and thus improve mission efficiency. How can this be achieved? Thanks to a flexible software-first architecture, where all these aspects are dealt with upfront in the mission concept, as integrated functionalities.
ReOrbit’s top-notch team of software engineers and system architects develop in-house software, procure hardware from the best-in-class suppliers, and seamlessly integrate the components to create flexible and secure satellites. Today, we are a rapidly growing company building a very strong multidisciplinary team to support our activities. We are headquartered in Helsinki, Finland with a subsidiaries in Bristol, UK and Bariloche, Argentina.
