Senior Mechanical Architect
ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Mechanical Architect to join the team at our HQ in Helsinki, Finland, UK or Bariloche, Argentina.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team this individual will be part of a team leading the full end-to-end lifecycle of the mechanical and thermal activities. This is an important position in the company as it will contribute to the direction we take with the development of our thermo-mechanical systems. It's an exciting opportunity to be involved from the beginning in projects that are pushing the boundaries of existing space data technology.
Due to the pivotal nature of this position it’s important we find the right person, not just the right skills and experience (although those of course are important!). We are looking for a versatile engineer, who is confident to get on and get things done, big on teamwork and is flexible in their approach. We need someone who enjoys working with partners and suppliers and feels comfortable asking the difficult questions.
This person should bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise of working on satellite mechanical systems, specifically with geostationary satellite experience.

Responsibilities
- Satellite and launcher requirements analysis
- Physical Architecture trade-off analysis (including Primary/Secondary Structural Design) based on multiple mission & satellite constraints.
- Launch and Flight Configuration trade-offs.
- Mass budget management, CoG, Alignment, Moments of Inertia, Structural, quasi static and vibration analysis between others.
- Field of view and motion mechanism design & analysis.
- Support the AIT design and implementation Flow and GSE Design/trade-off analysis
- Satellite Alignment Strategy Design & implementation
- Working with System Engineering Team in tasks such as unit accommodation, trade-off analysis, system-level FMEA, electrical architecture.
- Supply chain technical management and components pre-selection
- Perform mechanical, static and dynamic analyses, develop and maintain mathematical models.
- Support feasibility studies and concurrent engineering activities.
Skills and Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or a related field.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in the GEO space industry.
- Knowledge and professional experience of the full lifecycle of space related mechanical subsystems.
- Ability to analyse large amounts of data with scripting or other tools, derive conclusions, and manage design documentation as well as review and approve design changes.
- Comfortable working closely with external vendors and consortium partners.
- Ability to handle FEM. Expertise with NASTRAN/NX CAD & CAE tools.
- Experience in participating in a space related mechanical and/or thermal qualification campaign.
- Experience with testing and analysis; model validation, correlation, CLA and model reduction.
- Professional experience within development lifecycle (design trades, CAD design, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, qualification).
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English.
